The two key components of religion... If removed?
by purrpurr ini'm reading a very interesting book right now " why our children will be atheist ".
i've just started the beginning of the book but it starts off with a history of how religion developed through the ages of mankind.. one of the points it make is that religion was invented for two reasons 1) to alay fears about death and the future 2) to create a bond between other people.. i found this thought to be very interesting and i wonder if the need for those two components were removed from mankind would religion disappear too?.

but in her reading she is recognizing most of the names ( we were there at bethel during the 70s as a married couple) and asked what happened to reinhard lengtat?

I have been told that Lengtat has one foot in the Watchtower and one foot out. If this is so, what a help it would be to many if he would explain why he is both in and out. What is the good he finds in the Watchtower, which I agree is there, and what is the bad he finds.
To remain silent is to be non-committal and lukewarm. Or is he waiting for someone to call him and invite him to return and make needed changes? I think not.

Type and Anti-Type, the killing of the Faithful and Discreet Slave. Whats thier angle and how do they spin out of this one?
by Crazyguy init would seam that the changing of the type anti-type teaching kills their claim as the faithful and discreet slave class as it is only a parable according to peter at luke 12:41. obviously i don't think they will ever come out and actually say that the f&ds is just a parable, so when one asks what will the answer be, to spin out of this obvious problem?.
also what do you think is the reason for the change in this teaching?
is it more to do with getting rid of doctrine that can be criticized or could it be that they are trying to make it as though they are really not in control of the congregations so as to say we aren't responsible when the prosecution comes knocking over future pedophile case?

Ray Franz said the old FDS teaching did not hold water because the anointed around the world did not truly teach or control a thing in the Watchtower. The change only caught up with the reality Ray Franz talked about.
Perhaps someone at Bethel read his book.

A member of the Governing Body acts as the FDS when the GB is meeting together. He is not the FDS on his own apart from the rest of the GB. If he chooses to retire he will continue be an anointed brother. -

The current Governing Body is like no other. They do as they please and if they please to retire for so called medical/age reasons they will do so. In truth, it would be displaying a mature attitude to choose to retire when the job becomes too hard than to do as previous GB members and keep holding the title for the sake of the title. To retire would be seen as a sign of humility on their part and well received by the brothers and sisters. -

If you want to be safe do not answer. If you don't mind some risk thank her for her concern and leave it at that. Jehovah's Witnesses are not free to be themselves. She may be sincere but she is not in control of her life or her beliefs. Not yet at least... -

Are Elders experts on the Bible? Are they spirtually qualified men?

how well do they know their bible?

Most Elders know only what the Governing Body has taught. Most of them would prefer NOT to know what the Bible actually teaches because it would mess up their lives and perhaps force them to be who they actually claim to be: Christians following Jesus Christ. -

Joe, the Governing Body has only to claim that we are so close to the end it is now necessary to begin training those who will take the lead when they, the Governing Body, are resurrected to heaven. Thus some among the non-anointed Helpers will enter the holy and begin their training to take the lead by becoming a voting member of the Governing Body.
"Let us thank Jehovah for this provision"... will be their claim. And the friends in the congregations will gladly buy it.
